1 – Choosing a Venue
Every man wants his stag party to be one of the most memorable nights out of his life. This will only happen with careful planning. It is easily achievable to organise every detail, but still give the impression of a laid back affair. The best planning is that which appears invisible.
Collect the names and email addresses of everyone who is to be included. Set the date early, then keep them informed. It is better not leave things to chance. Consult the groom; The party is your responsibility as best man, but it is his night.
Some people want a laid back relaxing restaurant setting, other a full on party night in a nightclub while yet more are perfectly happen with a pub crawl. Whatever you choose, check out the venues in advance. Not all venues permit a group of 20 guys on a boozy stag night. The last thing you need is to turn up at your planned venue only too be turned away at the door.
Make sure you know what the groom wants and does not want. Some guys are perfectly happy to have a naked stripper-gram girl sitting on their lap, for others it is their idea of hell.
2 – Choose the attire
Stag nights are supposed to be fun and the groom is meant to be the center of attention. Embarrassing him is not a great start, so judge his personality and make sure you get it right. T shirts are cheap enough, but if you want to gain entrance to the more upscale establishments they made get you refused entry, so again check in advance.
3 – Choose your transport with care
Depending on numbers this can be anything from taxis, a coach or a stretched limo. Think outside the box here, if you have a large group going abroad, check out chartering a plane, it can be much cheaper than people think, in some cases work out cheaper than a scheduled flight and is let’s face it much, much cooler. Alternatively hiring a girl to serve the drinks in the stretch limo can either be seen as a bit of a lark or tacky. It is a fine line on everything, keep asking.
4 – It’s the extra touches that will win the day
Remember this is not just another night out with friends. Make sure someone who can handle a camera, takes responsibility for some photos, if need be, hire a photographer. Nowadays with smartphones, the stag party can become everyone’s property on social media; remember this can be a good or very bad thing.
5 – Get your group home safely
It might not sound cool, but it is your responsibility to make sure that all the guys get in their taxi or other chosen mode of transport at the end of a stag party. If you are staying in a hotel, make sure all guests either make it back or let you know where they are. Everyone wants and expects to party hard, but it’s your responsibility to at least stay sober enough to check things out at the end of the night. Losing a groom is neither clever nor funny, and it has happened.
Your attention to detail should guarantee that all goes smoothly.
6 – Use Your Group Buying Power
it is important to remember that at all times while making inquiries into the cost of travel, accommodation or activities, that you have the strength of your group buying power. Any business that can see a booking coming their way with upwards or 10, 20 or 30 people will definitely not want to loose out, and will be happy to offer incentives to win your custom.
If you take for example the many businesses out there that are offering up to a 80% discount on their services including administration fees to post discount deals on some of the most renowned discount sites like Groupon.com and LastMinute.com and many other sites like these, to try and gain customers to promote their services. Bare this in mind if you’re a bit shy when it comes to haggling for discounts, go for it as you’ve nothing to loose, as all they can do is say no.
7 – Choosing Accommodations
There are many options for choosing accommodation that need to be considered when considering the level of budget for the overall group. The first and most obvious option is hotel accommodation.
Hotel Accommodation is in abundance on many price comparison sites, but sometimes you already know where you want to go based on recommendations from other players who have visited the area where you wish to travel. It is always best practice to contact the hotel directly to see if you can get your own discount for your group booking.
Recommendations from others are most helpful in deciding your accommodation, as you don’t want somewhere that is too reliant on transport all the time!
You can view many of the most popular hotel booking service providers on the Hotels Section of DIYHolidays.com.
Private Properties are also another great option for budget accommadation. There are many fabulous private luxurious villas available for short-term rentals. Some of these villas are like those in which you would imagine movie stars living in. These will have features beyond your wildest imagination, including private swimming pools, Jacuzzis, and a room for everyone in the group!
The cost of renting these villas can be surprisingly affordable when you divide the cost up among the members of your group. There are many websites that provide these options for you, but you can see them all in one location on the Private Properties Section on DIYHolidays.com.
Hostel’s are also an option to consider as this might suit a smaller group traveling, especially if you are heading to an area that can be quite expensive for accommodation. Hostels do have rooms with a number of bunks in it that might suit the number of people in your group. This can be a great solution as sleeping can be the last thing on the itinerary for a stag party depending on the groups requirements, although it can be a noisy option if everybody comes back at different times with a little too much to drink! There are many Hostel booking agents available on line for booking Hostels all over the world and you can see them all in one location here on the Hostel Section on DIYHolidays.com.
8 – Keep your Group Informed
It is always best to inform the people in your group of exactly what costs are involved, what is included in the trip and what, if any, discounts you have managed to squeeze out of service providers.
Collecting the money can also be challenging as this can sometimes create difficulty especially when deposits have to be paid. This is where you avail of the services of GroupandPay.com.
GroupandPay.com is a hugely popular online platform that is free for organisers to use when informing the group of what has been arranged for them and also provides an easy hassle free for collecting the money. It prides itself on being very user friendly.
Then, when all is done and dusted, don’t hide your light under a bushel, you are taking the responsibility for organising the trip, take the pats on the back, when they come your way.

9 – Travel Insurance
Many people overlook this, but it is so important especially if traveling abroad. Group insurance policies are readily available and do not have to be expensive. The peace of mind that it brings is worth it, especially for the organizer in the event that anybody gets hurt or misses a flight which lets face it, has happened as its part of the territory because it’s the law of averages that you will always have a clown in every group, and as your reading this you know exactly who I’m talking about! Many companies specialise in this kind of cover. There are many service providers listed here on the Travel Insurance Section on DIYHolidays.com for you to choose from!
